M&Ms

Monday marked the beginning of my first fundraiser at Virginia Tech. I will be handing out M&M Mini containers, asking friends and family to enjoy eating the delicious M&Ms and then return the container half full of quarters. By doing this you all will be helping me raise $360 for CURE International Zambia GO Team this summer. A BIG thanks to my sweet friend Courtney who gave me this wonderful idea. And thank you to my IV bible study, Main Egg bible study, and BCFers for taking part in this fundraiser! If you are reading this from somewhere else and want to get involved, just let me know...there are plenty of M&Ms to go around!

CURE GO Team Zambia: Rural Outreach Team

I am writing now with exciting news and a joyful heart!
Today I received an e-mail with the dates and some new information about the trip! First off the Hospital Based Team for the Zambia GO Team 2010 has been cancelled because they didn`t have enough people sign up to go. This was the trip I originally had planned to go on, but it looks like the Lord has other plans for me!
As of today, I will be going on the Rural Outreach Team for CURE GO Team Zambia 2010 this summer from July 22nd through August 5th. This is the literal description of the rural trip from CURE:
'The Rural Outreach Team will receive 3 days of orientation at the hospital and then accompany a team of Zambians to a rural “bush” area to care for those who may have never received medical treatment and/or visitors. This team will live in tents and will not have access to modern toilet or bathing facilities. Plenty of purified water and nutrition food will be provided along with on-the-field training and life changing experiences."

This trip will definitely be different then what I was expecting but now I am all the more excited about what God is planning for Zambia now and this summer. It is also a blessing to hear that this trip will be $200 less expensive because we will be staying in tents rather than in the hospital in Lusaka. So now my goal is $3900 overall. Right now I am at $840, 22% of the way and excited to continue raising support and telling more people about what CURE is doing.

Thanks again for partnering with me, and with CURE through your prayers and support. I will be updating shortly with some fundraising I am hoping to start here at Virgina Tech. Remember to keep the people of Zambia and Haiti in your prayers!
